Why a Community?

We Make Coffee Trading Fair & Truly Transparent

We build a community because it’s only natural to look for a collaboration between partners who share the same core values and goals. As members of the Ombligo de Luna community, everyone has an important and necessary role to make the coffee journey possible. Each member is entitled and encouraged to do it in the most optimal possible way.

See below who is already part of the community and their role in the value chain.

Cooperative Rincón Toningo

It was founded in 2004 by 22 coffee farmers located in the community of Rincón Toningo, in the state of Veracruz, who organized themselves so that together they could produce specialty coffee. Since its creation, it has had different ups and downs and has been at the mercy of market prices, which has caused discouragement and discontent. Currently, there are 11 active members that continue their struggle to move forward producing specialty coffee.

Grupo Moretto

It was founded in 1990 as a business group. However, its coffee tradition goes back several generations, it has managed to position itself as a family business strongly rooted in coffee and its tradition. It has consolidated the entire value chain at the national level and collaborates by assuming the role of processing and selecting green coffee for export, as well as storing all of our coffee.

Ombligo de Luna Exporter

Born in 2020 as a social start up, which seeks to create a more conscious community around the production, processing and commercialization of coffee. Our role is that of the exporter; to organize everything necessary to move the coffee and deliver it to port for shipment.

Ombligo de Luna Importer

It is the other side of the coin, it’s in charge of organizing everything necessary to get the coffee to Germany, as well as receiving and distributing the coffee to the roasters at their doorstep.

Who is iFinca?

iFinca exists to empower consumers and producers; building a more ethical supply chain. Their app connects you to the farmers behind each cup of coffee. Bridging the information gap, sharing producers’ stories and providing accurate data including the payment amount to the farmer, so that you can buy a coffee from a company whose values align with yours. Every member of the coffee supply chain is identified, included and treated with integrity, from farmer to customer.

Transparency and Traceability

The iFinca mobile app provides vital data about the coffee collected and verified at each step to ensure quality and transparency, including the farmgate price. Each user maintains control over their data and how they want it to be shared. The CoffeeChain® platform was built from the ground up specifically for the coffee supply chain, the mobile users are able to record information on a secure blockchain platform and can interact with information uploaded by other participants in the supply chain.

With a simple scan, you can learn about the coffee’s journey from farmer to cup. Their innovation merges technology, true transparency and complete traceability focused on the producers. These are the first steps in a new and exciting next wave of coffee.

Innovative technology, Independently verified data.

iFinca connects everyone in the coffee supply chain with their mobile application. A point-to-point chain offers over 140 data points from farmgate to cup. Independent verification of payment amount to farmers assures roasters, cafes and consumers that the coffee has been ethically sourced.

Building stronger systems through Technology.

The coffee’s entire journey track by their proprietary technology CoffeeChain, a blockchain ledger using encrypted QR codes.
